You play a long-haul trucker, carrying freight over large distances between dozens of European cities, where speed, skill and stamina all get tested. SCS Software built and published it, the ESRB rates it for Everyone, and it came out on 18 October 2012.
A trucking sim offered as a “free download” on some mirror site is pirated, and cracked installers like that regularly arrive with malware bundled in. Buy the licence from an authorized shop, borrow it legitimately through Steam Families, or claim it in a giveaway that the store itself announces.
Drivers keep coming back more than a decade on. Steam showed 944,161 reviews for it on 2 October 2026, 97 % of them positive, and 34,840 players were on the road at once that day.

We looked at Steam’s store data on 6 October 2026, and the Family Sharing label was on Euro Truck Simulator 2. Steam Families groups the accounts of one household; when one member owns the game, the others can install it from the shared family library. Your career profile, saves and achievements stay yours, but the purchase never changes hands: it belongs to whoever bought it.
There is a limit worth knowing for this game in particular. Euro Truck Simulator 2 supports online multiplayer and co-op, and a single copy can only be in use by one account at a time. If you and the owner want to drive together in one online session, you need two copies. Open your family library first to confirm the game is actually there.
