Can You Get Black Myth: Wukong for Free? Ways to Play Without Buying It
Black Myth: Wukong is a paid single-player action RPG. Steam Families, giveaways and reward apps can cut what you spend; here is what each one involves.
Black Myth: Wukong is a paid PC game. A relative's copy shared through Steam Families is the one way to play it without buying it yourself, and comparing stores is the way to spend less. The card below leads to our price comparison, where some store links earn us a commission.
Is Black Myth: Wukong free to play?
No, it is a paid game. Game Science developed and published it, and it came out on 20 August 2024. It is an action RPG drawn from Chinese mythology: you play the Destined One, travelling through a world of trials and wonders to find the truth hidden behind an old legend. We compare PC prices.
Be wary of any page that promises a “free download”. Those copies are not licensed, and cracked installers like these are a frequent way malware reaches a PC. Stick to authorized stores, Steam Families or a promotion you can verify on the store’s own site.
Players on Steam think highly of it: 96 % of 1,212,369 reviews were positive on 2 October 2026, and 17,619 players were in the game at the same moment that day. In the United States the ESRB has classed it Mature.
Routes that cost little or nothing
A shared copy in your Steam Family
When we checked Steam’s store data on 6 October 2026, Black Myth: Wukong was marked for Family Sharing. Steam Families works per household: an adult who owns the game can let other family members launch it from the shared library. The licence remains the buyer’s, while each player keeps separate saves and achievements. One copy serves one person at a time, so if the owner is playing, you wait. Because this is a single-player game, that limit matters less than in co-op titles. Open your family library to confirm it is there before you rely on it.
Store giveaways
For games a store is giving away right now, see our free games page; it is the safe alternative to “free key” offers elsewhere.
Reward apps
Some apps pay points for playing mobile games or completing tasks, and let you exchange the points for gift cards that can be spent on games. Which apps and offers you get depends on your device and country; collecting enough can take days or weeks; there is no guaranteed amount; and each app sets its own age limits and payout rules. You still buy the game, with credit you earned. We have no commercial relationship with any reward app.
Paying less for the PC version
The card shows every store we currently track, from official shops to key sellers and marketplaces. A few points worth knowing:
- Key activation. A key bought from a reseller is redeemed on Steam; check the region column on the Black Myth: Wukong price page when stores list different regions.
- Timing. The Steam sale dates page tells you when Valve’s next big sale begins.
Two editions
Steam sells it as Black Myth: Wukong and Black Myth: Wukong Digital Deluxe Edition. Before you buy a key, check which of the two the listing is for, so you do not compare a Deluxe price with a base-game one.
How far the price has dropped
We have recorded its prices for more than two years. The deepest monthly low so far is this month, October 2026, at 39 % below today’s Steam list price, and in 9 of the last 12 months at least one store we track sold it under list. Discounts have become a regular sight rather than a rarity.

Hardware: this one is heavy
Plan for space. Steam asks for 16 GB of RAM at minimum and again at the recommended level, plus 130 GB of storage. Whether your graphics card keeps up is answered on the Black Myth: Wukong system requirements page. On 6 October 2026 its Steam page showed full controller support and 15 languages, including Thai, Czech and Turkish.
Store links on our game pages may be affiliate links: if you buy through them, the store may pay us a commission at no extra cost to you. How we earn money.
