Can You Get ULTRAKILL for Free? Family Sharing, Giveaways and Cheaper Keys

ULTRAKILL is a paid Early Access shooter on PC. A Steam Family member's copy, a store giveaway or reward credit may help; here is how each one works in practice.

ULTRAKILL is a paid PC game, still sold in Early Access. Because it is a single-player game, a relative's copy shared through Steam Families is a realistic way to try it without buying your own. The card below leads to our price comparison, where some store links earn us a commission.

ULTRAKILL is a paid game

ULTRAKILL is a fast, extremely violent retro first-person shooter made by Arsi “Hakita” Patala and published by New Blood Interactive. It mixes the style ranking of character action games with the speed of 1990s shooters, and you heal by getting close and covered in your enemies’ blood. It was first released on 3 September 2020, and it costs money: there is no free-to-play version.

Status matters here: ULTRAKILL was still in Early Access (Steam, 6 October 2026), years after its first release. That means you pay for the game in its current state while development continues, and later updates can add or change content.

Hakita’s shooter is a favourite with Steam reviewers: of 244,510 user reviews tallied on 2 October 2026, 97 % recommended it, and 2,256 players were mid-run that day.

A note on safety: download sites that hand out ULTRAKILL for nothing are spreading unlicensed copies, and those files are a frequent malware carrier. Stick to authorized stores, Steam Families or promotions a store announces itself.

Playing ULTRAKILL without buying it

Launching a relative’s copy

New Blood’s listing showed the Family Sharing flag in Steam’s store data on 6 October 2026. Steam Families is a feature for people in one household: an owner’s games appear in the shared family library, other members can launch them with their own saves and achievements, and the licence stays with whoever bought it. Each copy serves one player at a time, which matters little here, since ULTRAKILL is played solo. If ULTRAKILL is missing from your family library, the owner may not have shared it, so ask them before you count on this route.

Store giveaways

Stores sometimes give a game away for a limited time. Our free games page lists the games you can claim for free right now.

Reward apps

Some apps pay points for playing mobile games or completing tasks, and let you exchange the points for gift cards that can be spent on games. Which apps and offers you get depends on your device and country; collecting enough can take days or weeks; there is no guaranteed amount; and each app sets its own age limits and payout rules. You still buy the game, with credit you earned. We have no commercial relationship with any reward app.

How low ULTRAKILL’s price has gone

Across the stores we track, ULTRAKILL sold below Steam’s list price in 12 of the last 12 months, and its deepest monthly low, in August 2026, was 74 % below today’s Steam list price. Our ULTRAKILL price history goes back more than two years, so you can see each month’s low before you decide whether to buy now. For the next big Steam event, see the Steam sale dates.

Paying less for your own copy

We compare PC prices: the card shows every store we currently track for this retro FPS with its present asking price. Steam sells a single edition, simply called ULTRAKILL, so any discount covers the complete Early Access build.

Old PC? Probably fine

ULTRAKILL is light on hardware. Steam asks for 4 GB of RAM at minimum and recommends 8 GB, with 3 GB of free storage. There is a Linux version as well as Windows. The CPU and GPU that Steam names for both tiers sit on our ULTRAKILL system requirements page.

When we checked on 6 October 2026, Steam showed full controller support, and English was the only language listed.

Questions

Does ULTRAKILL run on Linux?

Yes. Steam lists Linux requirements next to the Windows ones, so a Linux PC can run the Steam version.

Will Early Access buyers have to pay again for the full release?

Steam's data does not say. Check the publisher's announcements on the store page.
