Can You Get Ravenfield for Free? What Actually Lowers the Cost
Ravenfield is a paid Early Access game on PC. How Steam Families, store giveaways and reward apps work for it, and how to time a purchase.
Ravenfield is a paid PC game from SteelRaven7, still sold in Early Access. You can play a household member's copy through Steam Families, or compare stores and wait for a discount. The card below leads to our price comparison, where some store links earn us a commission.
Ravenfield is a paid game
There is no free version to download. Ravenfield is a sandbox battle game in which you fight alongside the Blue team against the Reds, using guns, tanks and helicopters, with ragdoll physics deciding how every hit lands. It was made and published by SteelRaven7 and first came out in 2017.
Ravenfield remains in Early Access (Steam, 6 October 2026), so the battlefield you buy today is a work in progress. Whatever is in the game now can still change before SteelRaven7 calls it finished.
A “free Ravenfield download” on an unofficial site is a pirated build, and that kind of file is a common carrier of malware. Get it from an authorized store, through a household Steam Family, or from a giveaway the store announces on its own site.
On 2 October 2026 this Blue-versus-Red sandbox had 80,181 Steam reviews, 97 % of them favourable, and 790 players were fighting at once; the ESRB lists it as Everyone.
Playing Ravenfield without your own purchase
Taking turns on a family copy
Ravenfield had Steam’s Family Sharing marker when we pulled its store data on 6 October 2026. Inside a Steam Family, which is Steam’s way of linking the accounts of one household, a game bought by one member can be installed by the others from the family library. Your progress and achievements are your own, but the licence belongs to the buyer.
Each shared copy can be played by a single account at a time. Steam lists Ravenfield as single-player, so the only catch is taking turns with the owner. Before you plan a weekend of battles around it, see whether Ravenfield actually shows up in your family library.
Giveaways
When a store is giving a game away right now, it appears on our free games page. Check there rather than trusting a “free key” offer from anywhere else.
Reward apps
Some apps pay points for playing mobile games or completing tasks, and let you exchange the points for gift cards that can be spent on games. Which apps and offers you get depends on your device and country; collecting enough can take days or weeks; there is no guaranteed amount; and each app sets its own age limits and payout rules. You still buy the game, with credit you earned. We have no commercial relationship with any reward app.
Cutting the price of your own copy
The card shows every store we currently track, so you can see at a glance which shop is asking the least for Ravenfield right now. Steam sells it as a single edition, simply called Ravenfield, so there is no edition to pick between: any key for it is the same game.
The Steam sale dates page tells you when the next seasonal Steam sale starts.
How low has Ravenfield gone?
We have kept Ravenfield’s prices for more than two years, and they show a game that is discounted often. Its deepest monthly low came in April 2025, at 50 % below today’s Steam list price. Over the past year it was cheaper than list price at one of the stores we track in 6 of the last 12 months, so a reduction is a regular event rather than a rare one.
The month-by-month record is on the Ravenfield price history chart. Use it to judge whether a current offer is close to the usual low before you buy.
Low hardware demands
Steam’s minimum is 4 GB of RAM, with 8 GB recommended, and the game needs about 1 GB of storage. Windows, Mac and Linux are all supported. For CPU and GPU specifics, open the Ravenfield system requirements page.
Text and menus come in English alone: Steam named it as the only language on 6 October 2026.
Store links on our game pages may be affiliate links: if you buy through them, the store may pay us a commission at no extra cost to you. How we earn money.
Questions
Can friends join my game on a shared copy?
No. Ravenfield is single-player, and a family copy can be used by one account at a time.
Will buying in Early Access get me the finished game?
A copy bought now is the same product SteelRaven7 keeps updating; Steam listed it as Early Access on 6 October 2026, so its content can still change.
