No, Fallout 76 is not fully cross-platform as of 14 October 2026. PC, Xbox, and PlayStation players remain in separate platform environments, so friends need compatible versions within the same platform family to explore Appalachia together.

Which Fallout 76 platforms can play together?

Fallout 76 does not support matchmaking between PC, Xbox, and PlayStation as of 14 October 2026. An Xbox player cannot enter a PC or PlayStation player’s world, and a PlayStation player cannot join someone playing on Xbox or PC.

Players within the same console family can share the corresponding online environment across console generations. The important boundary is the platform family: choosing a newer console within that family does not create PC-to-console or Xbox-to-PlayStation cross-play.

Can Game Pass connect Xbox and PC players?

No, Game Pass does not bridge the Xbox and PC environments. Running Fallout 76 on a PC places that player in the PC environment, while running it on an Xbox places that player in the Xbox environment.

The subscription or account used to access the game does not determine the multiplayer pool. The device version does, which means two Game Pass users still cannot team up when one launches Fallout 76 on Xbox and the other launches it on PC.

Does Fallout 76 support cross-save or cross-progression?

Fallout 76 does not support character or progress transfers between platform families as of 14 October 2026. Bethesda Support states that it cannot move characters or progress to a different platform, covering the levels, quests, inventory, and other character data attached to that platform.

Linking accounts therefore does not turn an Xbox character into a PC or PlayStation character. Moving to another platform family means using separate progression rather than continuing the same Vault Dweller.

Do Atoms and Fallout 1st carry across platforms?

Atoms and Fallout 1st memberships do not transfer between platforms as of 14 October 2026. Bethesda Support specifies that Atoms remain available only on the platform where they were earned or received, while Fallout 1st memberships on different platforms are treated as separate memberships.

This separation matters even when accounts are linked. A shared login does not combine Atom balances, move a Fallout 1st membership, or merge the platform-specific character data described above.

How to join friends on the same platform

Fallout 76 uses its Social Menu for friends, teams, and recent players. On Xbox and PlayStation, players add friends through the console interface; on PC, the Social Menu includes player search.

To enter a friend’s session, open the Friends tab, select the player’s name, and use Join Session. To form a group first, select that friend and use Invite To Team; both players still need to be in the same supported platform environment.
